Pers: Pelgrims in Wenen (Malcolm Bilson)
‘The Mozart vs. Clementi show created by Tom Beghin and Robert Lizt is a roaring good entertainment. The ‘contest’ between these two famous keyboardists in 1781 is legendary, although much of what we see in this presentation is of course speculative.
Tom Beghin and Erin Helyard are the protagonists at two 18th century fortepianos; the brilliant playing is alternated with the narrative of Robert Litz, delivered with wit and a good deal of charm.
The show, taking a little over an hour, is absolutely delightful.’
(Malcolm Bilson, fortepianist over de première in Montreal)
